TOO HOLY TO RECOGNIZE?

Have you ever wondered what you’ll be like once you arrive in heaven? Physically we shall be made perfect; any flaws, disabilities, deformities, unsightly disfigurements will be removed and we’ll inherit beauty and grace unequalled by any and all of the most attractive people of this world.

Mentally, there will be no more deficiencies in our intellect, and in all of our cognitive skills – we’ll have minds that would put Einstein and Hawking to shame!
Remember, Scripture says that Christ is vastly superior to and above the angels (HEB 1:4), and we will be like Christ. As His bride, we shall rule and reign with Him (REV 2:26-27; even judging angels! 1 COR 6:3).

We’ll have abilities and powers that would stagger our imagination if we caught a glimpse of them in the here and now! Review 1 CORINTHIANS 15 for some subtle hints!

What I’m most looking forward to in our “upgrade in the Kingdom of GOD” is the completion of our sanctification process that started the day we were born again and (hopefully!) is growing day by day in our walk with the LORD.

This holy process is something that GOD started when He instilled in us His Spirit and eternal life. And what He started, He will finish (PHIL 1:6). On that day when we are whisked away in transformative rapture (HEB 11:5; 1 THESS 4:16-17), we shall inherit our glorified bodies and experience full sanctification. We will truly be “like Him” (1 JOHN 3:2)!

Which brings up a question that many have asked me over the years: “Will we recognize each other, being so different, so completely holy”?

Absolutely! In fact, we’ll recognize each other even more in Glory Land! Now, I know what you’re thinking – “What does THAT even mean?”

First we have to talk about the debilitating effects of sin. Sin was never part of GOD’s original creation. It’s the most destructive force in all the universe. Not only does it bring about the death of spirit and body (ROM 6:23a), but it creates defects, deformities, discrepancies, and deletes in us what GOD intended when He made us. Sin has dirtied us, brought on us a stain that obscures what the LORD has fashioned in us.

Our personalities, our talents, our abilities – all diminished from what we were supposed to possess in GOD’s perfect creation.

Think of a stained glass window, filthy with grim and cobwebs. How can the light shine through all of that? Will you be able to appreciate the vibrancy of its various hues in all their colorful variety? Not at all! But once all that dirt is removed, you’ll see those brilliant colors as never before, right? That’s just how it will be when our sin nature is gone!

And when we inherit our glorified bodies and minds, our personalities and characteristics will be amplified to what we were supposed to be to begin with.

What sort of personality do you have? Are you the artistic, creative sort – be prepared to acquire astounding powers of artistic creativity once you are clothed upon with your glorified body and mind! Are you a humorous sort of person, quick with a quip or a pun? Your humor will get maxed out to where you outshine the most talented comic today! Perhaps you’re the thoughtful, analytical sort – you’ll be more powerful than a network of mainframe super-computers! Are you an intense, driven personality? – watch out! You’ll be a powerhouse in the realm of heaven!

So while we will have the perfect nature of Christ’s holiness, we will retain our GOD-given individual personalities, but they will be restored to how He created you to begin with (and likely made even more intense, augmented, dialed to eleven! I can’t wait to see you all There and experience how GOD intended you to be!
