AMERICA – PATRIOTISM or IDOLATRY? PART 3 of 3

Consider the following article by pastor Shane Idleman: In Case of National Emergency, Read This

It’s been the observation of many Christians throughout the millennia that where GOD works, Satan is sure to show up, interfere with and corrupt in any way possible. We see it in church history, especially in our modern day churches, as well as revivals such as the one that occurred at Asbury University, KY.

I believe such is also in evidence at the founding of our nation; while there were many godly men such as Patrick Henry, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton, there were also those involved in Free Masonry such as George Washington, who was a third degree Mason (“Master Mason”). However Free Masonry in those days didn’t have the 33 degrees that came to be, later in the 19th century. The Luciferian Rite of the 32nd and 33rd degrees did not yet exist.

Likewise Benjamin Franklin belonged to the Hell Fire Club which certainly had a very dark essence. Thomas Jefferson lived and died as a Theist, though he didn’t quite conform to all the tenets of Theism, or Christianity, but a subtle blending of both (while also denying the Deity of Christ and other essential doctrines of the faith).

The common man as well as local and State politics held onto a strong moral ethic and a spiritual conviction of the Christian faith. Such is observable in preserved diaries, journals and books written during that time. This is also in evidence in the many State Constitutions all of which speak of GOD, many except one speak of Jesus Christ.

Slowly, methodically, strategically Satan and his sinister poisonous arrows have pierced our nation, drawing us further and further away from our foundation. Scripture speaks of the dire consequences of such:

PSALM 11:2-3
2 For look! The wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow on the string, that they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart. 3 If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

And while Satan has drawn our American society into a materialistic philosophy (this is not just the pursuit of material wealth, but the view of the universe being strictly physical and in no way spiritual, or soulish in nature), he knows that we are spiritual beings (inside bodies of flesh) and that we crave spirituality.

So in the vacuum of non-spiritual existence, Satan then provides a spirituality that is dark, deceitful, damaging and damning – one that is diametrically opposed to GOD and His Truth and His Gospel.

As mentioned previously, there are many Christians who have become disenchanted with our country, particularly our government. Essentially they’ve abandoned any hope for a restitution of government properly run and maintained. In fact, some have gone so far as to feel proud that they’ve disconnected from “the Babylonian System” and look to the Kingdom of GOD to arrive where Christ will assume His righteous reign.

Where GOD’s Kingdom is concerned, I’m longing for its arrival just as much as any disciple of Christ. I am confident that this is truly the only hope for a righteous, sinless, incorruptible kingdom to rule over all the world.

Yet Christ has also called us to be “salt and light” (MATT 5:13) and he clearly said to “occupy til I come” (LUKE 19:13). Is there any biblical Christian that doesn’t want to have an impact on this fallen planet? To shine the Light of Jesus in this dark and weary world? To lead people to the truth of the Gospel – in our families and friends, our neighbors, co-workers, even strangers in a happenstance meeting?

Then why not in the political arena? Why not in local, State and Federal government? Don’t these souls also need salvation? And once saved, what sort of impact could they have for their constituents? True Christians are all about justice, righteousness, but also mercy and love – they follow the example of our LORD Jesus Christ: Can you think of ANYONE more qualified as a good and competent leader?

Then why can’t we expect disciples of Christ to be good and capable (obviously though, not perfect!) participants in our government?

And for those who don’t feel called to get into the political arena in any leadership capacity, you can still have a deeply profound impact on our American government!

1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4
1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

And this naturally goes for Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Mayors, Legislators, Judges, and others as well!

My spiritual mother in the faith (who has gone Home now!) had a godly grandfather who would routinely write letters to various government officials, from the POTUS and on down! This is also a viable means (emails included) to let your voice be heard for the cause of righteousness.

What if we’re discarded, ignored, marginalized? As I stated in Part 2, Jeremiah was treated that way too – but that didn’t stop him from taking action by being GOD’s witness to a fallen nation!

Will such a possibility stop you from action?

I understand that the way this world is heading – towards a one world system that will serve and worship Satan, and that we’re probably a lot closer to this dreadful event than we realize. For this reason many have given up on even attempting to have an impact for our country, even less our government – but did Jesus Christ hang on the Cross, shed His holy blood, issue forth the Holy Spirit with resurrection-kind of power, just so that we can roll over in defeat and let evil have its day?

In the tale of The Lord Of The Rings, the Elven Queen Galadriel spoke of the war against the evil Sauron, referring to it as “the long defeat”. She recognized that Sauron will have his day and eventually overwhelm the forces of good. Nevertheless, all the free peoples of Middle Earth were committed in their stand against this evil Istari!

In that same story, during the gathering of the Rohirrim, some of the officers doubted whether or not they could defeat the forces of Mordor. Their king, Theoden said, “No, we cannot defeat Mordor – but we will meet them in battle nonetheless!”

At the last battle against Sauron and Mordor, Aragorn, the rightful heir to the throne of Gondor, rallied the troops and while he saw “the same fear in your eyes that would take the heart of me!” he beckoned them to “Stand, Men of the West!” and at that last word, Rohirrim and soldiers of Gondor drew their swords out and prepared to fight to the last man!

Likewise, we have the poem, Charge of the Light Brigade where the unwise command of the leaders led to the massacre of the soldiers, but then those soldiers regardless of the hopeless odds against them, charged ahead in a spirit of bravery and sacrifice.

Remember the words of these men during the Revolutionary War:

Patrick Henry: “Give me liberty or give me death!” and Nathan Hale’s final words before his execution: “I regret that I have but one life to give to my country.”

And the wise words of Sam Gamgee, faithful hobbit and servant of his master, Frodo Baggins that he admonished him with: “There is some good in this world Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for!”

Take note of what he DIDN’T say, “…good FROM this world…” or “…good OF this world…” but that there is “…good IN this world…” The good that is in this world comes from outside it; the good in this world comes from GOD, and He it is that grants the unalienable rights of liberty, the gifts of truth and grace by Jesus Christ, the Gospel of our salvation – and that’s worth fighting for – wherever that battle may take place: whether in our community or at the Capitol!

It’s worth fighting against the Progressives (Humanists and Socialists) that want to strip every last bit of godliness from our nation, steal away our Christian heritage, rob us of our rights and like the Sovereigns of ages past, toss crumbs to us as though we were nothing but peasants.

And if we fail to win this battle, may we not fail in our witness to the truth. And no matter what may happen, hold dear to our hearts the everlasting truth of GOD’s Eternal Kingdom of which we are citizens, along with the Blessed Hope of our LORD’s Return!

As mentioned in Part One – never, ever should we allow patriotism for country to eclipse our allegiance to the Kingdom of GOD, to say nothing about it usurping it! To do so would be rank idolatry!

For more on this, check out the following article/video from DESIRING GOD: Should Christians Be Patriotic? (Disclaimer: I don’t agree with pastor John Piper on select, and specific issues, however, this article is excellent, so I wanted to conclude this 3-Part series with it!).

Can America reclaim its godly heritage? I believe that depends on the church – if the church at large in this country turns back to GOD, and repents of its Humanistic, Self-Seeking, Adulterous ways and gets back to their First Love, I believe GOD can restore us. But if not, then any brand of moralistic patriotism and conservative movements will ultimately prove vain.

A poem from my cousin and brother in the faith, Daniel Fire:

MY COUNTRY IS DYING:

Day is Ending
Rising the Moon
On Knees I’m Bending
Turning to You

Lord Hear My Prayer
It’s not for Me
My Country is Dying
Even You Can See

We Beg for Oil
We already Own
By our Enemies
Throw us a Bone

Price of Gas
Food and Supplies
All are Suffering
Upsetting Our Lives

Shootings all over
Blaming a Gun
While Preaching Hate
Reason, it’s Done

Change Their Hearts
Their Souls are Cold
Church Bells Silent
Doors are Closed

Find the Kindness
Giver not Taker
Woke is a Joke
Nothing more Faker

Leaders are Dangerous
Caused Harder Times
Find Them Wisdom
To Change Their Minds

Make Us Independent
Bring back Our Jobs
Till a Battery is Ready
We don’t get Robbed

Went through Covid
With No Shots No Pills
Have Type Two and Pneumonia
Seventy Four, Smiling Still

Lord Take Control
It’s All getting Old
In God We Trust
We All Been Told

Day is Ending
New Day Starts
Lord Only You
Can Change Their Hearts

Sign of the Times
Look, They’re Here
Asking You Lord
Revelation is Near

Dark Days Ahead
Alive are Dead
By Faith not Led
Destroys the Rest

Oh Dear Jesus
Hear My Plea
A Christian Spirit
My Country Needs
