Kisley!
Off the top of my (pointed?) head,...Hey A. Kisley!

Off the top of my (pointed?) head, I recall that the two witnesses are probably Jewish, and that the nation of Israel is mentioned as being pursued by the red dragon (remember when the earth opens up and swallows the flood issued by the dragon?).
The church is visible for the first 3 chapters, chapter 4 is transitional, and from ch. 5 to the end of 19, it deals with Israel (while not specifically named) as 'saints' but the tribulation saints are also mentioned in this parenthetical time between the rapture and the Second Coming. The church is visible once again in Ch. 20.

Nevertheless the distinction you've pointed out is very important! 'Saints' are those who are 'sanctified' (its the same root word in the Greek) and these are any that are called out of the world (followers of God prior to the establishment of Israel: Abel, Noah, Enoch, Methuselah, etc.; Israel, the church, the two witnesses, the 144,000, the tribulation saints, saints that follow the LORD during the Millennium) and into special relationship with the LORD.

I think that's one reason why many post-trib Christians think we are going through Daniels 70th week, because the term 'saint' is in evidence in Revelation, as well as Daniel.

Rev 13:7 "And it was given unto him to make war with the SAINTS, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."

Yet in Matthew's gospel it states: Mat 16:18 " . . . and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

Of course, 'gates' in those days of walled in cities was the location of the heads of state, and where those who ruled the political affairs of that city officiated. Obviously Satan is the head of "the gates of hell" and yet he shall not prevail against the CHURCH.

How can the Beast "make war with the saints" and "overcome them"? if the LORD promised that the Authority of hell would not prevail (same word used in the Greek OT: Septuagint for
"overcome" and "prevail" in Mt. 16:18) against the church?
Answer: the church is indeed a special classification of saints that is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, thus born again. All saints are saved; only the church is spiritually regenerated and indwelt by God's Spirit while on this Earth.

I shall have to look for Arthur E. Bloomfield's book "All Things New"!James J. Kisley, I am likewise grieved and heart broken ...A. Kisley, I am likewise grieved and heart broken over the deplorable condition of the church, the BODY of Christ. It reminds me very much of Isaiah chapter one: Isa 1:4-6

"Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
"Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
"From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment."

Much of this apostacy, I'm convinced is due to the watering down of the Word of God; every modern translation, as you know, comes from the Wescott and Hort text, and these men likewise denied THE VERY SAME THINGS that were listed (and you quoted) in HOLY RELICS!
You mentioned a letter sent to you by a Jehovah's Witness; not many are aware of the fact that The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, the Bible JW's use and study from is ALSO based on Westcott and Hort's text!

If the Word of God is our foundation, then that which was laid by Westcott and Hort will result in the demise of any church that rests upon it rather than the Bibles that stem from the Textus Receptus (KJV, NKJ).

I can foresee a time ahead where the KJV will be outlawed in this nation (because it states God's Truth!); where only anemic, blasphemous 'Bibles' like The Message, Renovare, and others will be allowed!James J. Can you imagine the look of horror on the faces of our First parents, as God slew an animal, seeing for the first time blood being poured out, resulting in death!
In fact the Bible is drenched with types, and examples of sacrifices that foreshadow the Lamb of God and His Ultimate Sacrifice for the sins of the world!
Most notably the first passage where "love" is mentioned (Law of First mention is very important according the Hermaneutics): "take now thy son, thine only son, whom thou lovest, and offer him up to Me..." And when Abraham offered up Isaac, it was a type of John 3:16 "For God so LOVED the world that HE gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" GLORY to GOD!
Thank you for your kind words and comments Barbie! May the LORD Jesus bless you WAY TOO MUCH!James J. The Holy Spirit cannot tell you what the Bible means until you know what the Bible says. The Bible is the inspired, Spirit breathed, Word of Almighty God. It is spiritually discerned…not metaphorically guessed.

Arthur E. Bloomfield wrote a study of Revelation in the book “All Things New”.
He gives a wonderful definition of Bible Prophecy and what the book of Revelation is about and who it is for:

“Prophecy is more than history written in advance; it is the completion of a story. The Bible deals with time – ALL TIME, beginning with the creation as recorded in Genesis and ending with the new heaven and the new earth which includes the Holy City that comes down out of heaven from God, the “long awaited home” of the saints.

The story of time had to be written in the middle of that time; therefore, some of it would have to be written before events took place. This is prophecy.

The book of Daniel completes the story of the nations.
The book of Ezekiel completes the story of the Jews.
The book of Revelation completes the story of the Church.

Revelation is a continuation of the book of Acts. It continues the story of the Church throughout the ages of its earthly history, into heaven at the Resurrection, returning with Christ to reign for a thousand years; then finally receiving the many mansions prepared in the Holy city. REVELATION IS A COMPLETION OF THE STORY OF THE CHURCH.

Revelation is FOR the Church. It was sent to show unto His servants the things which must shortly be done. It is directed to the seven churches and it has seven times repeated command “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22.

A blessing is pronounced to those who read it.

We are commanded to hear.

The Lord pleads with us to take it to heart. “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the Churches.” The churches should study the other books; they must study Revelation.

Revelation is not only for the Church, it is about the Church. This is probably the most important thing we could say. It has been said that Revelation is for the Church but about the Jews. However, the Jews are not once mentioned in the book, except the 144,000 who have become Christians. The churches are mention in Chapters 1, 2 and 3 and the last chapter. The saints are mentioned or referred to by some means in EVERY chapter.

The “Church” is an earthly name for the organization of the saints of God. The name is not applied to the saints after the Rapture. Other names are used to indicate the particular work that the saints will do at the time: such names as Elders, Living Ones, Horsemen, Angels, Bride of Christ, Kings and Priests. Most of the confusion in the interpretation of Revelation has been caused by a failure to recognize the saints in their heavenly organization and work.”

It is our responsibility to study the book, know what it says, and lean hard upon the Holy Spirit for understanding. For the book of Revelation is a message direct from Jesus Christ to HIS CHURCH. How could anyone neglect and again, discard His Word or worse, pervert the Holy Scriptures leading countless others away from God’s Truth.A.M. She and her husband are Jehovah Witnesses. I was amazed to have received a personalized handwritten letter instead of the customary visit to my door. I must say that I was compelled to reply. I spent weeks studying their doctrines, and comparing them with the Word of God so that I might give an intelligent answer based on Biblical Truth!

Now here we are discussing many of our “Evangelical” friends, and I find that the same disregard that’s found in what the Church regards as “Cults” is now the disregards of the “Church”. The only way to obtain a skin is to sacrifice the lamb. When God covered Adam and Eve with the skin of the lamb then he most assuredly performed the first sacrifice for man and again performed the last sacrifice for man through His Son Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

Loved the article, very well written and I greatly enjoyed reading it and learned a few things!

When we become unteachable, we become unreachable!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03923897129360100363noreply@blogger.com
