JEWELS FROM THE GOSPEL OF JOHN: JOHN 6:67-69 – The MESSIAH’s MONOPOLY!

The following is a series of short exhortations, brief commentary, and writings to convey thoughtful meditation on God's Word. I have chosen the Gospel of John as the subject. I pray that these will be a blessing and an edification for the saints.

JOHN 6:67-69
67 Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go away?" 68 But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 "Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

JEWELS GOSPEL JOHN - JOHN 6:65-66, “Walk With Him No More”

The following is a series of short exhortations, brief commentary, and writings to convey thoughtful meditation on God's Word. I have chosen the Gospel of John as the subject. I pray that these will be a blessing and an edification for the saints.

JOHN 6:65-66
65 And He said, "Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father." 66 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more
.

I don’t know if any of us hasn’t suffered the heartache of a loved one who at one time professed Christ only to sometime afterwards abandon Him. It leaves us bewildered and feeling dejected, and we at times ask ourselves, “Was there anything I could have done to prevent this?” Perhaps, but we will examine this towards the end of this edition in JEWELS FROM THE GOSPEL OF JOHN. For now, let’s consider the text at hand, and that which transpired previously!

Things As They Are - A newsletter by Greg Reid - JULY of 2022

Things As They Are - A newsletter by Greg Reid

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

We are surviving another brutal summer here. Heat waves are overtaking most of the planet, giving fuel to the “climate change” voices. As believers we are not surprised. The Bible says that all creation is groaning, awaiting the manifestation of the sons of God. (Ref.) Earth itself is rebelling and trying to expel man and his corruption off of the earth.

Note to readers: Check out this Answers In Genesis page that has lots of information on a biblical perspective on global warming/climate change.

JEWELS FROM THE GOSPEL OF JOHN: JOHN 6:59-64 – SPIRITUAL MATTERS

The following is a series of short exhortations, brief commentary, and writings to convey thoughtful meditation on God's Word. I have chosen the Gospel of John as the subject. I pray that these will be a blessing and an edification for the saints.

JOHN 6:59-64
59 These things He said in the synagogue as He taught in Capernaum. 60 Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, "This is a hard saying; who can understand it?" 61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, "Does this offend you? 62 "What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? 63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 "But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him

JEWELS FROM THE GOSPEL OF JOHN: JOHN 6:57-58 – Heaven Sent

The following is a series of short exhortations, brief commentary, and writings to convey thoughtful meditation on God's Word. I have chosen the Gospel of John as the subject. I pray that these will be a blessing and an edification for the saints.

JOHN 6:57-58
57 "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 "This is the bread which came down from heaven--not as your fathers ate the manna and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever

The Good Ways and Bad Ways of Pilgrim Souls – PROVERBS 16:25-33

The Good Ways and Bad Ways of Pilgrim Souls

Watch the Facebook video of this teaching here.

INTRODUCTION: We are all of us on a journey - the journey of life. We’ve traveled from yesterday, proceeding through today and heading for tomorrow. But this world is not our final destination.
Just as we’ve all had a date of birth, we shall all face the time of death.
“Life is a dash” one man concluded when he visited his father’s grave and was thinking about how short life really is. He noticed that between the dates of his father’s birth and his death, there was a little dash that represented the entirety of his life on Earth.

Our life is like a puff of steam that appears for an instant, and then is gone JAMES 4:14 tells us. I’ll be celebrating my 60th birthday in a couple months – yet I can clearly recall days in my childhood when I was just 6 years old! Where has the time gone??

THNGS AS THEY ARE Newsletter by Greg Reid - JUNE of 2022

Things As They Are Newsletter from Greg Reid of Youthfire! ministries

Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

I’m finally caught up on things and able to get this newsletter out on time. Praying that you are well and staying strong in Jesus. The challenges ahead for the Western Church are enormous, the compromises increasing every day and the saints that remain having to fortify themselves like never before.
I know I have said this before, but I am still so struck by Jesus’ words, “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith in the earth?” It is an open-ended question we all must answer. My heart cry has been, “find faith in me, Lord Jesus!” Believers are being tested in extraordinary ways in these times. May God give us the faith to stand no matter what.

CO-WORKERS OF CHRIST – PART TWO of TWO

Have you ever worked at a job where the team you belonged to had one particular employee who just exceeded everyone’s expectations? Who, when they came into the room, brightened it with good-humored and encouraging morale? A natural born leader that others naturally followed? The sort of person that you couldn’t imagine not being there? That made your job a joy?

I’ve actually had that experience in a few different jobs throughout the years!

As Christians we have the astonishing privilege of joining the best team ever – the church of the LORD Jesus Christ! And as the Head of the church, He doesn’t merely lead us as a whole, but each of us individually!

Previously we looked at MATTHEW 11:

MATTHEW 11:29-30
29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light
.

We saw that the LORD places a yoke on us that is a double-yoke and that it’s a light burden, only because the LORD bears the brunt of the load!

And being so yoked together as a team, we are near Him, and are well able to learn of Him, of His gentleness, of His lowliness, of His heart where we can truly find rest for our souls.
